The many characters of Beauregarde
During 1968 through 1973 Beau refined his on camera character.
Beauregarde’s approach to his character was unique in the way that every week he
would have a new look and attitude to use against his opponents.
He would use an almanac to find a historic figure who’s birth date or historical event
fell on the day he was to do his on camera interview and match.
He then created and designed most of his costumes for TV and would morph himself
into the great descendant or reincarnate of these historical figures.
Beauregarde would use these different characters and weave it into a way to insult his opponents.
Almost everything he did went over most people’s heads.
Most fans took wrestling characters seriously, and that was the magic
Beauregarde took to its limits.
On Earth Day Beau was the descendent of the first
caveman along with club and fur boots.
